Patrick is a partner in our Intellectual Property team. He specialises in the legal implications that arise from the ownership and exploitation of IP rights. His clients include businesses, individuals and other professionals, including overseas lawyers and patent and trade mark attorneys, and he deals with all issues that affect the operation of a business, specifically the rights which it owns and uses. Patrick has over 30 years’ litigation experience in the High Court, Appeal Courts, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and Tribunals including the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices. He is focussed on seeking practical and cost effective solutions to disputes, including settlement compromises and alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation.
In addition, Patrick has extensive experience of commercial agreements which relate to or arise from the transfer or exploitation of IP rights, including assignments, licences, and research and development agreements. He advises businesses on and carries out IP Audits to identify and protect their IP rights and highlight the risks of misuse. Patrick delivers seminars and provide materials to businesses which need their staff to be trained on IP matters.
