Employment Law Training : Conducting Disciplinary, Grievance and Appeal Procedures

10 Dec 2015

Most Employment Tribunal claims start with either a disciplinary process or a grievance. As an employer, dealing with these procedures effectively can either help you avoid a claim entirely, or at least make sure you are in the strongest position to defend it.

This course is aimed to help both your existing HR team and management in dealing with these issues. Using an interactive presentation and case study format we will be able to demonstrate the practical application of the guidance and increase staff confidence when handling such issues.

The course will cover:

  • A helpful overview of employment law to ensure that the procedures are understood in context.
  • Understanding the ACAS Practice Codes
  • Raising awareness of informal steps to resolve problems at an early stage
  • Choosing appropriate personnel to deal with each stage of the process
  • Investigating the matter – what level of detail will you be expected to cover?
  • Conducting the disciplinary or grievance hearing itself
  • Possible outcomes including a wide range of disciplinary sanctions and practical solutions in response to employees’ complaints
  • How to utilise the appeal process to resolve any disputes and/or ensure that you are in the best position to defend any litigation arising out of the process.
  • Common pitfalls and best practice.

There is often no one-size-fits-all approach so we can suggest tailor made training depending on your size, resources and the focus of your business.
